So you have gotten behind on some bills or have had a sudden life changing event? It could be a divorce, a death in the family, job loss or an unexpected medical issue.
It can take years to build credit and only takes a month or two to destroy it. The problem is the mathematical formula for credit scores doesn’t take into concern that you have had perfect payment history for years and this is just a minor setback and you will be back on your feet in no time to take care of your responsibilities.
The problem is when you make a late payment or two, your credit score can be so damaged that you are “temporarily” a very poor risk and no one will offer you a chance to rebuild your credit.
So how do you fix this problem? Sure you can go get a secured credit card, but it doesn’t help as much as people think it does (but don’t get me wrong it does and can help you and I do suggest this option). And that just demonstrates that the people giving you advice are not experts in the field of credit.
Example: you’re not going to take legal advice from a janitor, are you?
